The Confraternity of Mary Sorrowing.
CONFRATERNITAS MARIAE PERDOLENTIS.
Purpose
The Confraternity of Mary Sorrowing is established by the Oratorian Community of St Chad’s Church, Manchester, to promote prayer and other spiritual works of mercy on behalf of the holy souls in purgatory. These works are offered to the Blessed Virgin that she may distribute them on behalf of the Holy Souls according to the loving wisdom of her Immaculate Heart. The Confraternity also serves to provide that Christ’s faithful be present at Requiem Masses and Funeral services in sufficient numbers so as to make these occasions dignified and worthy of the deceased and their sorrowing families.
Duties:
To pray privately each day for the Holy Souls using the prayers given in the Confraternity Manual of Prayer.
To endeavour to attend the Requiem Masses or Funeral services that take place in our church, and even in other churches.
To attend a monthly Confraternity Mass on the last Saturday of the month at 11am.
To visit the graves of the dead and pray on their behalf.
